Job summary

KLA, Milpitas, CA, is seeking a System Design Engineer for the Broadband Plasma division. You will analyze requirements, design complex inspection systems, and collaborate with marketing, engineering and operations to define architectures and specifications.

The role includes creating test plans, validating performance, supporting customers, and occasional travel. A strong optics background and Python scripting are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in applied optics, mechanical/electrical engineering, physics or related.
• Experience with optical imaging and control motion systems.
• Experience with image processing or signal/imaging algorithms.
• Proficient in Python for data collection and analysis.
• Excellent communication with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced program and adapt quickly.

Responsibilities

• Define system architecture and develop requirement specifications and test plans.
• Collaborate with functional groups to define and review designs.
• Create and execute test plans; validate system performance and troubleshoot.
• Support customers in implementing processes to optimize tool performance.
• Lead troubleshoot efforts in manufacturing and in the field.
• Occasional travel will be required.
