Job summary

Vuzix Corporation, a leading AR smart glasses company, seeks an experienced Optical Engineer to oversee the characterization and test lab. You will maintain existing tests, develop new procedures, and collaborate with customers and vendors on imaging systems including displays, waveguides, and projection subsystems.

Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills are essential. The role involves coordinating with QA, R&D, and Production, documenting procedures, and ensuring ISO 9001:2015

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or equivalent; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in research or product design environment.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with optical test equipment and measurement techniques.
• Familiarity with Zemax.
• Programming experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Characterize and test micro-displays, projector systems, optical subsystems, and complete near-eye systems.
• Develop and implement new test methods and procedures to support R&D, QA, and production.
• Create and maintain test documentation and data records.
• Collaborate with QA and Production to establish inspection/validation methods.
• Identify, procure, set up, and maintain test equipment.
• Analyze results and develop corrective actions for product/process concerns.
• Provide senior optical engineering expertise on testing and characterization.
