Job summary

Excelitas Technologies Corp. in Boulder, CO is seeking a Senior Metrology Engineer to lead optical metrology initiatives.

You will manage transfer of metrology tools from development to production, establish SPC and Gauge R&R protocols, and document quality controls for ultra-precision optical components. The role requires a Physics/Optics background and extensive experience in metrology tooling, with opportunities to mentor technicians and drive continuous improvement in production readiness

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optics, or related field. Advanced degree desirable.
• 10 years experience with optical metrology desirable.
• Proficiency with LabView and Python.
• Gauge R&R proficiency desirable.
• Statistical Process Control desirable.
• Experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, DMAIC) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for optical metrology including surface metrology, spectrophotometry, and laser measurement.
• Support transfer of metrology tools/processes from development to production.
• Support continuous improvement of metrology, process controls, reliability, and uptime.
• Create and improve documentation for measurement and quality control of optical components.
• Train technicians on tools and processes for optical metrology.
• Conduct tool and process verification studies using Gauge R&R and similar techniques.
• Support troubleshooting of existing optical metrology equipment and processes.
• Other tasks as assigned.
