Job summary

Adtran, Inc. is seeking an Optical Hardware Engineer to join our team in Atlanta.

You will contribute to the design, evaluation, and integration of DWDM optical components and subsystems across the product lifecycle. The role involves developing electronic circuits for laser & photodetector subsystems, implementing analog/digital control, and collaborating with multiple engineering teams to address performance, manufacturability, and cost objectives.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
• Experience in optical communications, hardware development, and mixed-signal electronics.
• Knowledge of optical systems, DWDM, ROADMs, and telecom hardware is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define specifications, evaluate performance, qualify, and integrate optical components and subsystems.
• Design and develop electronic circuits for laser, photodetector, and optical subsystem control.
• Develop software tools for instrument control, data acquisition, test monitoring, and performance characterization.
• Perform hands-on lab testing, characterization, and qualification of optical components and subsystems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering disciplines.
