Job summary

FiberLight LLC is seeking an Optical Transport Engineer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to design, deploy, and optimize DWDM and ROADM-based fiber networks. You will review designs, lead migrations, build budgets, and track cost savings while ensuring high availability and scalability across the core network.

The role requires 12+ years in fiber optics, hands-on experience with Ciena and Fujitsu equipment, and strong communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 12+ years in network engineering with fiber optic transmission, DWDM and ROADM.
• Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Ciena and Fujitsu optical equipment.
• Solid knowledge of optical networking principles: propagation, attenuation, dispersion, amplification.
• Proficiency with network design tools and methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain fiber optic transmission systems using DWDM/ROADM.
• Develop and optimize network architectures for high availability and performance.
• Conduct engineering analysis and design for equipment from Ciena, Fujitsu, and other vendors.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance to ensure service reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies into the network.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Develop and maintain documentation for network designs, configurations, and procedures.
• Stay current with industry trends in fiber optics and optical networking.
