We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to support our expanding range of optical metrology, imaging, and automation systems. This role demands both technical expertise and the ability to take ownership of project outcomes, driving innovation and ensuring quality across all stages of development. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of optical principles, design, and applications, with a proven track record in optical engineering and metrology, including experience in optical imaging, components, opto-mechanical systems, and automation testing equipment. Proficiency in one or more optical design tools such as Zemax, Code V, or TracePro is required, along with strong skills in device simulation (using commercial software or Python), mathematics, physics, and problem-solving. The candidate should be familiar with using scientific equipment like lens systems, colorimeters, spectrometers, and MTF measurement systems, with some tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate strong and efficient ability to learn skills on optical design, device simulation, testing, imaging, cameras, metrology and measuring machines utilizing optics, mechanical and electronic aptitudes.
  • Solutions oriented with ability to work independently in a fast paced and innovative environment.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills and knowledge with a high level of passion.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for supplier qualification, factory auditing, and customer service.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required for supplier qualification, factory auditing and customer site service. The engineer should be willing and able to install, troubleshoot and repair equipment onsite at our customer locations.
Experience and Education Requirements:
  • MS or PhD in Optics, Applied Physics, or equivalent in Engineering Technology.
  • Previous experience such as installing, troubleshooting optical imaging, optical alignment, cameras, machine vision, colorimeter, motion stages, electric systems, optical and electronic sensors, automatic control systems preferred.
  • Experience in optical design, device simulation, opto-mechanical design, and electronics also highly preferred.
  • Experience in imaging processing algorithms development and optimization.
  • Excellent communication and customer service aptitude are required.
