Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Significant management and leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with capacity planning, production scheduling, and product flow.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily manufacturing activities across multiple shifts, work centers, and production processes.
  • Lead Operations Managers, Supervisors, and production teams to achieve production, quality, cost, and safety objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, audits, safety requirements, and housekeeping standards.
  • Coordinate capacity planning, purchasing, and inventory requirements to support goals.
  • Partner with maintenance and Industrial Engineering to maximize efficiency and standards.

Overview

A leading home furnishings manufacturer is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee manufacturing operations across multiple shifts and production work centers. The role is responsible for leading Operations Managers and Supervisors while driving performance across production, quality, cost, safety, capacity, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will combine strong manufacturing leadership with a hands‑on approach to operational excellence, process improvement, workforce development, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Management
  • Direct daily manufacturing activities across multiple shifts, work centers, and production processes.
  • Lead Operations Managers, Supervisors, and production teams to achieve production, quality, cost, and safety objectives.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to standard operating procedures, audits, safety requirements, and housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain production flow and ensure schedules are consistently achieved.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to maximize equipment, tooling, and production-line efficiency.
  • Work with Industrial Engineering to establish and maintain effective production and incentive standards.
  • Coordinate capacity planning, purchasing, and inventory requirements to support production and financial goals.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with quality teams to maintain standards, conduct audits, and improve product quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and process improvement methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Production Planning, and Inventory Control to improve equipment capabilities and reduce costs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and optimize manufacturing inputs.
  • Develop and implement new processes and product improvements in collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors.
Safety & Environmental Management
  • Champion safety initiatives and ensure compliance across all shifts.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive manufacturing environment.
  • Partner with environmental and facility teams to maintain appropriate workplace standards.
  • Ensure employees consistently follow safety, cleanliness, and operational requirements.
Leadership & Workforce Development
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Operations Managers, Supervisors, and production employees.
  • Support hiring, promotions, transfers, performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and other employment decisions.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and participate in performance reviews and compensation processes.
  • Identify training and development needs and implement programs to strengthen workforce capabilities.
  • Monitor employee attendance and timekeeping records.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-one discussions, coaching sessions, and development activities.
  • Communicate operational goals, performance expectations, and departmental priorities effectively.
  • Coordinate resources across equipment, facilities, people, materials, and production methods.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve operational issues and improve plant performance.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are consistently followed through regular audits and monitoring.
  • Oversee the operating budget for the assigned functional area.
  • Drive cost-effective manufacturing operations while maintaining production, quality, and safety standards.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, productivity improvements, and operational efficiency.

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with capacity planning, production scheduling, and product flow.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, process optimization, and workforce management.
  • Ability to lead across multiple shifts and manage complex operational priorities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, HR, purchasing, and inventory functions.
  • Powered Industrial Vehicle certification/license may be required.

This position operates within an active industrial manufacturing and distribution environment. The role may involve moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, material-handling equipment, and extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors.

Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and steel-toed footwear, may be required. The position operates in a fast‑paced, time-sensitive environment and may require flexibility across different shift schedules.
