Job summary

Maryland Department of Human Services seeks a Deputy Executive Director of Operations to assist the SSA Executive Director in shaping the administration's vision, and to lead agency-wide programs and day-to-day operations.

The role drives strategic planning, SOPs, and day-to-day management; chairs or participates in committees and budget cycles; oversees directors and staff to ensure performance and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Services, or a related field.
• Eight years of experience in administrative, operational, or managerial leadership within a large-scale public or private human services, social work, or health administration agency.
• Three years involving direct supervision of professional supervisory or managerial staff; Two years managing programmatic budgets, fiscal impact analysis, or contract lifecycle administration.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior management and operational oversight for all Social Services Administration (SSA) programming.
• Establishes strategic planning goals, standard operating procedures, and manages day-to-day operations.
• Represents the SSA Executive Director on governing committees, task forces, and workgroups with binding decision-making authority.
• Plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates the work of Program Directors and supervisory staff.
• Directs, edits, and participates in the annual budget formulation process for the Social Services Administration.
