A nationally recognized, growth-stage data-center provider is modernizing its private-cloud footprint and needs a hands‑on leader to own all things OpenStack. In this high-impact role you will shape the architecture, automation, and day-to-day operations of multi-region clusters that power mission‑critical customer workloads. What You’ll Do
- Architect, deploy, and optimize highly available OpenStack clouds across multiple sites, continually improving performance, scalability, and security.
- Administer core OpenStack services (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone), integrating compute, networking, and storage with data‑center hardware.
- Design infrastructure‑as‑code workflows using Ansible, Terraform, and Python to streamline provisioning, patching, and DR testing.
- Implement robust monitoring and alerting, analyze performance trends, and drive capacity‑planning initiatives.
- Champion security best practices including RBAC, secrets management, and compliance hardening.
- Lead incident response, troubleshoot complex issues spanning hardware, virtualization, and network layers, and coordinate vendor escalations.
- Produce clear run‑books, diagrams, and change‑control documentation to support operational excellence and audit readiness.
- Mentor cloud engineers, share knowledge through code reviews and workshops, and foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation covering three data‑center regions.
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years in cloud or infrastructure engineering roles, with 3+ years running OpenStack in production.
- Deep Linux administration skills (Ubuntu, RHEL, or similar) and solid networking fundamentals (routing, VLANs, firewalls).
- Proficiency with automation / scripting (Ansible, Python) and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling (Terraform or equivalent).
- Hands‑on experience with virtualization and container ecosystems (KVM, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Track record of improving system reliability, performance, and security in 24×7 environments.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and customer‑facing communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable experience.
- Bonus points for OpenStack or Linux certifications, SDN/NFV knowledge, or experience integrating Kubernetes with OpenStack.
