Job summary

M&T Bank Corporation is seeking an experienced OpenShift Platform Engineer to design, operate, and secure its enterprise container platform. This senior IC role leads platform initiatives across OpenShift and hybrid-cloud environments, including cluster lifecycle management, automation, observability, and developer enablement.

The engineer will drive design through production, troubleshoot complex issues, mentor peers, and ensure least-privilege access and audit-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems design, management, and/or architecture with OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Strong troubleshooting across Linux, containers, networking, storage, compute, identity, and distributed apps.
• Hands-on automation of infrastructure or platform operations using scripting, configuration management, infrastructure as code, GitOps, or CI/CD.
• Experience collaborating with security, risk, and control teams on platform changes and remediation.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, upgrade, scale, and support production OpenShift clusters across hybrid infrastructure.
• Lead complex platform initiatives from design to implementation, validation, documentation, and operational transition.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, upgrades, policy enforcement, and tasks via IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Diagnose and resolve cross-domain issues in Kubernetes/Linux/networking/storage/identity.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, dashboards, capacity planning, and reliability improvements.
• Coordinate incident response and root-cause analysis with preventive actions.
