Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Systems Engineer III to build and manage enterprise OpenShift container platforms. You will design, deploy, and automate highly available clusters, integrating IaC and CI/CD across cloud resources.

Ideal candidates will have strong OpenShift/Kubernetes experience, Linux administration skills, and a track record of supporting production container platforms in enterprise environments. This is a remote role spanning multiple US markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with 4+ years of systems engineering experience.
• 8+ years in systems engineering with HS diploma or GED/Equivalent.
• 3 years hands-on OpenShift and Kubernetes administration experience.
• Experience supporting production container platforms in enterprise environments.
• Strong Linux system administration background.
• Experience with IaC, CI/CD, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure Management — Deploys and manages cloud resources, optimizing configurations for security, performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Cloud Solution Design — Leads the design and deployment of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures for critical applications.
• Infrastructure as Code — Defines and implements best practices for IaC, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Support — mentor team members providing guidance and technical leadership on complex projects; provide 24/7 on-call support to ensure availability and reliability.
