Placements24 is assisting a leading mining company in Randburg to hire a Senior Mine Planning Engineer with a strong open-pit focus. You will develop long- and short-term mine plans, perform feasibility studies, and integrate geology, geotechnical, and survey data into robust planning processes.

The role requires 7+ years in mine planning, proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, and Xact, and a commitment to safety and sustainable mining practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mine planning and design with open-pit focus.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, Xact or similar planning software.
• Strong understanding of open-pit mining methods and scheduling.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long- and short-term open-pit mine plans.
• Conduct feasibility studies, pit optimization, and economic evaluations.
• Design pit layouts, access roads, and dump locations.
• Schedule drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
• Integrate geology, geotechnical, and survey data into plans.
• Collaborate with operations to implement plans and address issues.
• Monitor performance, analyze deviations, and propose corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports, forecasts, and presentations.
• Ensure compliance with mining regulations, safety, and environmental standards.
• Stay updated on planning software advancements.
