Job summary

Optum in the United States seeks an experienced Manager of Oncology Research and Clinical Trials to lead nursing and operational efforts across the oncology research program. Qualifications

• 2+ years of clinical research experience in oncology trials
• 2+ years of leadership or management experience in research operations
• Experience managing clinical trials across multiple phases (Phase II, III, interventional)
• Experience working with investigators, sponsors, CROs, and regulatory agencies
• Solid knowledge of FDA regulations, ICH-GCP guidelines, human subject protections, and research compliance
• Proven success leading clinical research programs and operational initiatives

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee coordination, quality, and delivery of patient care within the oncology research setting
• Support development and execution of departmental goals, strategic initiatives, and research program objectives
• Partner with physicians, investigators, and clinical teams to ensure successful implementation of clinical trials
• Monitor compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice
• Recruit, interview, onboard, mentor, and develop clinical and research staff
• Provide leadership and performance oversight for licensed and non-licensed personnel
• Develop and implement patient-centered care plans to promote quality outcomes
• Support clinical trial activities across multiple phases, including protocol execution
• Drive continuous improvement through Lean methodologies and audits
• Assess staffing needs and address employee relations concerns promptly
• Develop staff education, orientation, and competency programs
• Foster engagement through clear communication and collaboration
• Collaborate with investigators and partners to support study success
• Serve as backup for coordination activities including participant screening when needed
• Participate in initiatives advancing oncology research and program growth
