Job summary

SMG Contractors in Florida is seeking a Project Superintendent to lead on-site construction, coordinating subcontractors, safety, quality, and schedule.

You will review drawings, manage daily reports, enforce OSHA standards, and ensure work aligns with contract documents and budgets. Travel to project sites as required.

This role requires 5–7 years in commercial construction and strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive commercial construction field experience
• 3+ years in a Superintendent or similar supervisory role
• Experience supervising occupied, multi-story renovation, exterior restoration, roofing, framing, drywall, stucco, painting, and handrail work
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, plans and specs, building codes, OSHA, inspections, and QA procedures
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, submittals, RFIs, and schedules
• Proven ability to lead subcontractors and field personnel, meet milestones, and maintain accountability
• Excellent organizational, documentation, time-management, verbal and written communication skills
• Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred; First Aid/CPR preferred
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations
• Ability to walk active jobsites, climb stairs/ladders, work at heights, lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Provide full-time on-site supervision and leadership for all construction activities
• Plan, coordinate, and sequence daily/weekly work per project schedule
• Conduct daily coordination meetings and weekly look-ahead planning with subcontractors and project team
• Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, equipment, manpower, and site access; review drawings, submittals, RFIs, change directives, and contract requirements
• Verify construction is installed per plans, specs, manufacturer requirements, and codes
• Identify conflicts and delays; coordinate solutions with Project Manager and trades
• Maintain accurate daily reports on manpower, deliveries, inspections, safety, and site conditions
• Monitor progress against baseline and recovery schedules; implement corrective actions
• Enforce safety requirements, OSHA standards, and PPE; conduct jobsite safety meetings
• Manage quality control and inspections; ensure nonconforming work is corrected
• Coordinate required inspections with building departments, owner, architect, engineer, manufacturer, and third parties
• Maintain organized jobsite, material storage, and protection; manage site logistics
• Coordinate shutdowns and work in occupied buildings with Owner and PM
• Track field changes and subcontractor performance; notify PM before unauthorized work
• Review subcontractor payment progress and quantities when requested
• Maintain permit drawings, submittals, inspection records, safety docs, and as-built information
• Develop and manage punch lists; lead closeout activities and turnover
• Represent SMG Contractors professionally to Owner, occupants, consultants, and stakeholders
