OSM Thome Limited is seeking an experienced Main Crane Operator above 2000 t for offshore fleet operations worldwide. The role requires extensive offshore crane experience, qualifications, and the ability to coordinate complex lifts safely in challenging sea states.

The successful candidate will work on a 35/35 rotation with strong emphasis on safety, communication with bridge and stability teams, and adherence to manufacturer procedures and logs for all lifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years offshore experience in lifting/heavy marine operations.
• At least 5 years operating large offshore cranes (2000t class or similar).
• Valid offshore crane operator qualification (Level 2 supervised, Level 3 independent).
• Proven record with high-capacity crane systems in marine environments.
• Experience with major offshore crane manufacturers preferred (e.g., Huisman, NOV, Liebherr, AmClyde).
• Valid Stage 3 certification or internationally recognized equivalent; IMCA logbook.

Responsabilités

• Operate large offshore cranes within approved lifting capacities, considering weather and sea state.
• Execute lifting, lowering, and transfer operations safely; conduct approved personnel basket movements when allowed.
• Maintain awareness of vessel layout, crane reach limits, and deck activity to avoid clashes.
• Coordinate lifting plans with supervisors and vessel departments prior to operations.
• Monitor simultaneous crane activities on multi-crane vessels to prevent interference.
• Liaise with bridge and stability teams during lifts affecting vessel balance or trim.
• Perform pre-use and routine inspections of crane components (ropes, hooks, structures).
• Carry out daily cabin cleaning and keep equipment areas safe.
• Report faults promptly to engineering and supervisory teams.
• Support preventive maintenance with onboard engineers; complete weekly inspections.
• Document significant lifts (over 50 tons) in crane operation logs.
• Provide clear instructions to tugger hoist personnel during sequences.
• Stop operations immediately when unsafe conditions arise.
