Job summary

Ashland in healthcare seeks an Occupational Therapist to evaluate patients within 24 hours of referral and to develop and obtain approval for treatment plans. The role requires collaborative work with physicians and the nursing team to ensure timely patient care.

Responsibilities include supervising COTA and staff, maintaining thorough treatment documentation, participating in conference committees, discharge planning, and coordinating durable medical equipment to support patient independence.

Qualifications

• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients within 24 hours of physician referral or 1 business day and document delays with justification.
• Develop an effective treatment plan and obtain approval from the referring physician.
• Treat patients per the physician treatment plan and supervise COTA, aides and students.
• Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification docs per state rules.
• Discharge planning and caregiver/family training for post-therapy maintenance.
• Communicate progress with supervisor and health team; participate in care meetings and trainings.
• Coordinate ordering of durable medical equipment to facilitate independence.
