Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Observability Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale observability services. You will push OpenTelemetry adoption, develop backend services in Go, Python, and Java, and collaborate across SRE, Cloud, CI/CD, and security teams to ensure reliable, secure, and cost-efficient observability at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs).
• 3+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 3+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• 3+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 3+ years with public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• 2+ years designing distributed high-volume data pipelines.
• 2+ years IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 2+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize.
• 2+ years with Grafana OSS or similar observability backends.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java (Spring Boot).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, Cloud, and security teams on reliability standards.
• Design scalable telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces) for performance and cost efficiency.
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring and define SLOs and health checks.
