Job summary

Coupang is seeking an experienced Observability Engineer to design, implement, and maintain monitoring, logging, and tracing across its hyper-scale services. You will partner with software engineers, SREs, and infrastructure teams to improve system visibility, reliability, and performance.

You will drive best practices for telemetry, define KPIs/SLOs, and mentor others in observability concepts while working with a modern tech stack including Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, Math or a closely related field.
• 8+ years working on large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong experience with observability in complex environments.
• Deep knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and logging stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain observability solutions across platforms and infra.
• Collaborate with software engineers, SREs, and infra teams to define observability requirements.
• Develop best practices for monitoring, alerting, and telemetry systems.
• Evaluate industry tools to improve visibility and reliability.
• Define KPIs and SLOs for system availability and performance.
• Assist in incident troubleshooting using observability data.
• Mentor engineers on observability principles and tools.
• Drive standardization of observability processes and tools.
