Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Observability Architect (Splunk ITSI & SRE) for a hybrid role in Bridgewater, NJ. You will design end-to-end alert strategies, architect IT service monitoring, and drive continual service improvement across insurance processes.

You will build advanced dashboards, refine alert thresholds, and guide data onboarding for logs, metrics, and traces to support KPI reporting and regulatory needs. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Senior Observability Architect (Splunk ITSI & SRE) - Hybrid

In this role, you will:

• Design and refine end to end alert configuration strategies that enable timely detection of service issues and reduce business disruption for property and casualty insurance operations through highly reliable monitoring flows.
• Architect integrated IT service monitoring frameworks that align ITSM KPI measurement with business outcomes so that operational performance directly supports claims processing underwriting and policy administration efficiency.
• Develop and enhance continual service improvement practices by analyzing incident and problem trends using observability data and driving targeted corrective actions that materially improve customer experience.
• Create advanced dashboards and reporting views that translate complex monitoring metrics into meaningful insights for stakeholders enabling transparent visibility into system health and operational risk.
• Configure and optimize AEM app performance monitoring setups that track application response times error rates and resource utilization ensuring consistent service quality for core insurance platforms.
• Design Splunk ITSI service models including entities and KPIs that represent critical insurance processes and support proactive detection of degradation before business users are impacted.
• Implement SRE monitoring and observability practices using Splunk based solutions to drive reliability error budget adherence and pragmatic incident response across hybrid environments.
• Collaborate with product owners architects and operations teams to translate business requirements from property and casualty insurance into scalable monitoring designs that support growth and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct deep analysis of alert noise and false positives and refine alert thresholds and correlation rules to focus operational teams on the most impactful events and improve response efficiency.
• Provide guidance on data onboarding enrichment and normalization practices so that logs metrics and traces from diverse systems can be consistently used for reporting and KPI tracking.
• Evaluate existing monitoring and reporting solutions and recommend modernization initiatives that streamline tooling reduce redundancy and enhance the overall observability posture of the organization.
• Document reference architectures standards and best practices for monitoring observability and ITSM KPI measurement ensuring consistent adoption across teams in the hybrid work environment.
• Mentor technical teams in the effective use of dashboards reporting and Splunk ITSI features so that they can independently troubleshoot issues and support continuous improvement goals.

What you need to have to be considered:

• Demonstrate extensive experience in designing and implementing alert configuration strategies and ITSM KPI measurement approaches that drive measurable service improvements in complex enterprises.
• Possess strong expertise in continual service improvement methods leveraging incident and problem management data and observability metrics to deliver sustained operational enhancements.
• Apply deep proficiency in dashboards and reporting platforms including advanced visualization and metric modeling to present actionable insights for technical and business stakeholders.
• Bring hands on experience in AEM app performance monitoring using robust telemetry collection and analysis techniques to ensure stable and predictable application behavior.
• Show advanced practical knowledge of Splunk ITSI including service modeling KPI creation and health scoring to enable proactive service management for core insurance processes.
• Utilize SRE monitoring and observability skills with Splunk implementations to align reliability objectives with business priorities and to improve incident detection and resolution cycles.
• Offer solid domain understanding of property and casualty insurance operations including policy lifecycle claims workflows and regulatory constraints to design monitoring aligned with business realities.
• Have proven experience in hybrid work model collaboration using remote friendly practices and structured documentation to maintain architectural consistency and knowledge sharing.
• Display strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities to explain complex observability concepts in clear terms and drive adoption across technology and operations groups.
• Maintain focus on societal impact by supporting reliable insurance platforms that help individuals and businesses recover from loss events and enhance financial resilience.
• Show ability to work effectively in day shift schedules coordinating with global teams where needed without travel requirements while maintaining continuity of support for critical systems.
• Exhibit a track record of architecting solutions that scale with business growth while balancing performance cost and maintainability considerations in monitoring and reporting ecosystems.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $65K – 140K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate..

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
