Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a Bus Driver for summer resident camp in Torrance. The role ensures safe transportation of campers and staff to camps, program sites, and field trips, while engaging with youth in a supportive, positive manner.

Required are a California CDL with Airbrakes and Passenger Endorsement, a clean driving record, and current CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Prior school bus driving experience (preferably in mountain settings) is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21 years.
• California CDL with Airbrakes and Passenger Endorsement.
• Copy of 10 year driving record.
• Experience driving a school bus.
• Experience driving a school bus in mountain settings.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
• Clean motor vehicle record.
• Ability to read maps and written instructions.
• Must pass Association Transportation Drug & Alcohol Policy requirements.
• New Hire Training: June 1-6, 2026.

POSITION SUMMARYThe bus driver for summer resident camp is responsible for the safe transportation of campers and staff from different camps, program sites, field trips, and events. This position often involves active engagement with children and camp staff. This role is also responsible for assisting with activities, general camp operations, or other areas as assigned when not driving.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDrives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.Abide by all traffic laws while drivingYou are solely responsible for any traffic tickets incurred and depending on the nature of the violation, it could lead to dismissal.Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
