Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Community Coordinator to manage PECaN’s plant production and engagement programs on Staten Island. The role supervises seasonal staff and interns, coordinates scheduling, logistics and office workflows, and supports grant development for environmental projects.

The position requires collaboration across Parks divisions, grant reporting, and coordination of plant distributions with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Degree-based option: bachelor’s degree and two years of related community work.
  • Alternate option: high school diploma and six years of related community work.
  • Equivalent combination with at least one year of experience as in the first option.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operations of PECaN’s plant production, conservation and engagement programs.
  • Supervise seasonal staff, interns and participants in horticultural work in the nursery.
  • Perform scheduling, project tracking, purchasing coordination, logistics and office organization tasks.
  • Develop and maintain internal documentation, reports and tools to support project management and flows.
  • Support planning and coordination of plant and seed distribution activities and communications with partners.
  • Liaise with Parks divisions, assist with staff scheduling, timekeeping and training tracking.
  • Support grant development, reporting and fundraising by preparing applications and budgets.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, volunteers and site visits; assist with external communications.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, interns, volunteers and partner organizations.
