Job summary

Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital is seeking a Nursing Extern to support patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will participate in bedside care, adhere to infection control, and assist with data collection and documentation in the EMR.

Under supervision, you will develop hands-on nursing skills, participate in team rounds, and contribute to a collaborative care environment that prioritizes patient safety and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Must have completed junior year of nursing school or equivalent by program start.
• Successful completion of clinical rotations in an accredited nursing program.
• Maintain BLS/Healthcare provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Administers bedside patient care under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Adheres to infection prevention standards and PPE usage.
• Collaborates with the RN to assess needs and revise the care plan.
• Communicates with patients and families to support advocacy and education.
• Documents care accurately in the EMR under RN supervision.
• Demonstrates safe patient handling and age-appropriate care.
• Escalates safety concerns to the RN promptly.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
