Job summary

System One is hiring a nuclear shielding and criticality engineer for a yearlong contract based in Bellevue, WA, with remote-offsite work. The role focuses on shielding analyses using MCNP 6.2, including dose rates, activation, neutron fluence, and energy deposition, plus criticality calculations and USLs.

Strong communication and experience in an NQA-1 environment are desirable. Candidates should have a BS, MS, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering with extensive experience, familiarity with Attila,

Qualifications

• BS degree in Nuclear Engineering with minimum 15 years of experience.
• MS degree in Nuclear Engineering with minimum 8 years of experience.
• PhD degree in Nuclear Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiation shielding design and analysis for advanced nuclear reactors, including calculating dose rates, activation rates, neutron fluence rates, and energy deposition rates.
• Develop radiation sources based on material activation analysis for non-fuel in-vessel components.
• Perform criticality calculations and develop upper subcritical limits (USLs).
• Establish and maintain formal documentation of analysis results.
