Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a Nuclear Scientist/Engineer to support our government customer at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. The role requires applying advanced nuclear weapon physics, collaborating with DTRA, DOE, and IC partners, and producing rapid assessments and action recommendations.

Expect to author classified reports, mentor staff, and travel 5–10% domestically/internationally. Requires MS and PhD in relevant fields, 5+ years of nuclear experience, US citizenship, and ability

Qualifications

• Five plus (5+) years of experience in the nuclear weapons design, nuclear power, and/or general radiological/nuclear systems.
• Understanding of fundamental nuclear concepts deployed in modern nuclear weapons and sub-systems, nuclear energy production, and related material/chemical processes.
• Strong background in research and development with advanced analytical techniques.
• Understanding of nuclear weapon effects and phenomena.
• Understanding of related nuclear modeling including hydrocodes, prompt radiation, and human effects.
• Ability to create and co-author technical reports for broader community use and advancement.
• Ability to present existing or derived technical data to large scientific bodies and/or senior US government leaders.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to project efforts from unclassified to TS/SCI levels as the primary nuclear weapon physics technical specialist.
• Collaborate with DTRA-RD and DTRA-NE, external agencies, and IC entities to produce quick response assessments and courses of action.
• Function as first author on classified technical reports.
• Provide graduate level nuclear weapon design fundamentals requested.
• Mentor junior staff members and develop structured approaches in dynamic work environments.
• Establish professional relationships with domestic and international partners including AWE.
• Provide expert analysis on nuclear weapons physics and related topics.
