Responsibilities

A typical day includes:

  • Performing complex nuclear medicine procedures with a minimum accuracy of 99%, complying with standard procedures.
  • Updating knowledge of techniques and regulations relevant to patient ages.
  • Communicating clearly and tactfully with patients.
  • Computing and preparing accurate dosages for exams with at least 99% accuracy.
  • Ordering necessary radio-isotope materials with 100% accuracy.
  • Observing all government regulations for safe utilization, storage, and disposal of radio-isotopes.
  • Performing daily QC testing, troubleshooting equipment, and notifying supervisors of malfunctions.
  • Translating physician orders into appropriate procedures.
  • Ensuring workflow in the department and advising the Director on issues.
  • Maintaining productivity levels within 20% of the FTE monthly average.
  • Delivering excellent customer service to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Following safety and infection control procedures with at least 99% compliance.
  • Maintaining accurate records of radio-isotope utilization.
  • Scheduling and coordinating patient examinations efficiently.
  • Communicating effectively with patients and staff.
  • Transporting patients as needed.
  • Properly coding and charging examinations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Registered Technologist in Nuclear Medicine, ARRT(N), or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, CNMT.
Working Conditions
  • High stress environment.
  • Indoor work in well-lit, ventilated areas.
  • Minimal risk of contagion with proper safety precautions.
  • Willingness to work with awareness of the serious consequences of errors.
Physical Demands
  • Constant standing, lifting, and moving objects up to 300 lbs. with assistance.
