Who We Are

UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine, and the only academic health system based in Orange County. It serves a region of nearly 4 million people in Orange County, western Riverside County and southeast Los Angeles County.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the full range of in vivo and in vitro Nuclear Medicine procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and related chemical substances. Responsibilities include providing quality patient care, ensuring timely throughput of patients, operating and performing quality control of stationary and portable scintillation equipment (gamma cameras, Geiger‑Mueller counters, well counters, dose calibration devices and ancillary equipment), performing PET, Nuc Med, and CT diagnostic studies on PET/CT scanner, and administering CT Contrast Media. The role also supports scanner qualification for research trials, creates and programs study‑specific protocols, and operates under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and Medical Director. Availability for on‑call and rotational shifts is required.

Required Qualifications
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must work on‑call and rotational shifts as needed
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT
  • Knowledge of State regulatory radiation safety practices and the principles of ALARA
  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Current and active CRT, CTNM, ARRT® and ARRT(N) or NMTCB; or current and active CTNM, ARRT(CT) and ARRT(N) or NMTCB
  • Current BLS certification
  • Ability to train, monitor and maintain compliance in the department
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications
  • Scientific/Clinical Research experience
  • SPECT/CT experience
  • Multilingual skills to facilitate effective patient communication
  • Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Diagnostic CT with injection of CT contrast media experience
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in related field
