Job summary

James Fisher Technologies (JFT) is seeking a Shop Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for nuclear-related fabrication, welding, and machining projects. You will collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain to ensure estimates meet technical requirements and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes labor hour estimation, material requirements, external services, and tooling costs, with a strong focus on ASME, NQA-1, and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, welding technology, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in fabrication and welding estimating in regulated industries (nuclear/aerospace).
• Hands-on shop experience in welding or fabrication preferred.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, drawings, and codes to determine project scope and requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for nuclear-related fabrication, machining, and welding work (labor, materials, outside services, tooling).
• Interpret nuclear quality requirements (ASME III, NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B) within estimates.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production to validate manufacturability and routing assumptions.
• Work with Supply Chain to obtain vendor quotes and ensure pricing accuracy.
• Support bid reviews and contract handoff meetings; maintain historical cost data and estimating tools.
