Job summary

Antares is hiring a Senior Nuclear Methods Engineer in Los Angeles to develop and continuously improve nuclear analysis methods for reactor design, safety, and licensing. You will drive validation, uncertainty quantification, and margins across the lifecycle, collaborating with design, safety, and manufacturing teams.

You will leverage state-of-the-art reactor physics tools and real data to recover margins, improve confidence, and support block upgrades for modern reactor concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of professional experience in nuclear engineering, reactor physics, or related fields.
• Experience with reactor physics and transport tools such as MCNP, Serpent, SCALE, OpenMC, or MOOSE-based codes.
• Experience with transient reactor analysis and coupled neutronics/thermal-hydraulics methods.
• Ability to translate analytical results into engineering requirements and design inputs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain steady-state and transient nuclear analysis methods for reactor design, safety analysis, and licensing.
• Qualify analysis methods through code-to-code comparisons, benchmark problems, validation, and uncertainty quantification.
• Establish, document, and maintain biases, uncertainties, conservatisms, and design margins across all nuclear analysis methods.
• Perform gap analyses to identify deficiencies and develop plans to close those gaps.
• Ensure analysis products map to safety case, licensing basis, mechanical design, manufacturing, and hardware delivery.
