Job summary

Antares is seeking a Senior or Staff Nuclear Safety Analysis Engineer to own the safety analysis product for the final design of the Mark 1 reactor. You will lead intact-event safety analyses, develop source-term calculations for TRISO fuel, and translate reactor physics uncertainties into dose results.

You will collaborate with design, licensing, testing, and materials teams, drive V&V of safety codes, and produce regulatory submittals that support licensing and future designs.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Nuclear, Mechanical, or related field (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred).
• 4+ years of reactor safety analysis experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Hands-on experience with at least one system-level thermal-hydraulic / systems analysis code (e.g., RELAP5-3D, TRACE, SAM, GOTHIC, SAS4A/SASSYS-1, MELCOR, or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of TRISO fuel performance and qualification, including mechanistic failure modes.
• Experience developing source terms and radiological dose calculations.
• Demonstrated ability in reactor physics / neutronics uncertainties propagation.
• Familiarity with PIRT development or similar scoping methods.
• Technical writing skills for calculations, methodology reports, or regulatory submittals.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of the safety analysis deliverables for final design of the Mark 1 reactor.
• Perform and oversee deterministic safety analysis of intact events using PIRT methods.
• Develop source term calculations for TRISO fuel behavior and dose drivers.
• Understand neutronics model uncertainties and propagate to dose calculations.
• Interface with core, fuel, mechanical, materials, I&C, and plant systems to define inputs and license-basis needs.
• Identify data gaps and collaborate with testing and materials teams to close them.
• Drive cross-team V&V of safety analysis codes under nuclear QA for licensing.
• Author and review calculation packages, methodology reports, safety analyses, and topical content.
