Job description

ARIX Technologies is an established and ambitious venture-backed robotics company based in Houston, Texas. ARIX was founded by industry veterans who collaborated with skilled robotics engineers and data scientists. We design, build, and operate robotic crawlers that help customers inspect critical infrastructure faster, safer, and more thoroughly, improving asset integrity and reliability across the energy industry.

What We’re Looking For

ARIX is hiring a hands-on Senior NPI & Manufacturing Engineer to join the Robot Manufacturing team. We are looking for someone who can work well with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality builds. This role closes the design-to-manufacturing gap from first article to production, owns fleet reliability, and improves how our robots are built, maintained, and supported throughout their service life.

You’ve supported electromechanical hardware in production and in the field, and you’re comfortable working across mechanical hardware, electrical systems, and software. You will investigate failures, drive verified corrective actions, and strengthen the maintenance and quality controls that prevent downtime. You also own continuous improvement across manufacturing and the deployed fleet. You will turn field experience and manufacturing data into improvements that make our robots more reliable, easier to build and service, and ready to scale.

This role works closely with all disciplines on the Engineering team to carry improvements from investigation through implementation and verification. You will build and overhaul robots alongside the Manufacturing team while developing the processes, procedures, tooling, quality controls, and corrective actions that make that work more consistent.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead build readiness for new robot versions, including first article builds in concert with Engineering, build documentation, and production handoff
  • Own manufacturing quality controls, including incoming, in-process, and final inspections. Work with Engineering to define acceptance criteria, test procedures, and operating limits.
  • Investigate recurring build and field failures, establish root causes, and drive corrective actions through implementation and verification.
  • Improve manufacturability and serviceability (DFMA, DFX) with Engineering, reducing assembly difficulty, part complexity, and opportunities for error.
  • Develop processes, tooling, jigs, and fixtures that improve build quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Own the preventive maintenance program, including service intervals, inspection methods, procedures, and replacement criteria.
  • Write and maintain revision-controlled work instructions, coordinate hardware and software updates, and train technicians on new processes and requirements.
  • Participate directly in robot assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and upgrades.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, mechatronics, electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant NPI, manufacturing, or reliability engineering experience with complex electromechanical hardware, including prototype-to-production transitions.
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including reading schematics and using diagnostic instruments.
  • Experience investigating failures, implementing corrective actions, and verifying results.
  • Practical design-for-manufacturing and assembly experience, including improvements implemented in released hardware.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and tolerances and use CAD to develop fixtures, tooling, or hardware improvements.
  • Experience writing clear assembly instructions, inspection procedures, and test methods.
  • Ability to prioritize independently and communicate clearly with technicians, operators, and engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with robotics, drones, remotely operated vehicles, or industrial automation.
  • Python or similar scripting skills for test automation, data collection, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with engineering change control, configuration management, and manufacturing traceability.
  • Familiarity with Onshape, Altium, Jira, or similar tools.
Please note:

You do not need to match every single bullet point listed above to apply for this position. At ARIX, we believe that diverse perspectives are vital to nurturing the spirit of innovation and success.
