Job summary

Saildrone is seeking an NPI Electrical & Harness Technician to join the New Product Introduction team in Alameda, CA. Build, solder, and integrate complex wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical enclosures for pilot builds and prototype platforms.

Interpret schematics, capture redlines, and deliver DFM feedback before designs are locked for production. The team operates at the tip of hardware execution, collaborating across Hardware, Firmware, Software, Quality, and Production to mature

Qualifications

• 4+ years in wire harness / electrical technician roles in low-volume, high-reliability settings.
• Mastery of harness fabrication tools, crimping, heat shrink, potting, loom braiding.
• Strong soldering on wiring assemblies and PCBAs.
• Ability to read and build from complex schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation of redlines and DFM feedback.
• Experience installing harnesses in IP-rated or weatherproof enclosures.
• Self-starter with clear communication to engineering.

Responsibilities

• Harness & Electrical Fabrication: build harnesses, cable assemblies, and enclosures from schematics and CAD layouts.
• Precision Soldering: high-reliability soldering on wire-to-wire splices and PCBAs.
• Redline & DFM Feedback: identify errors and document actionable feedback for engineers.
• Vehicle Integration & Troubleshooting: benchtop testing, continuity checks, pinout verifications.
• Build Documentation: maintain records and refine assembly instructions for production.
• Production Team Collaboration: train with harness team and support ramp to production.
