Job summary

Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead non-profit accounting and financial reporting. You will oversee closeout processes, enforce internal controls, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws while supervising a team of accounting staff.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 7 years of related experience, including 2 years in supervision; CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Seven (7) years of experience related to duties, including 2 years in supervisory roles.
• CPA preferred for governmental/higher education finance roles.
• Experience with Workday Enterprise Management - Finance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with SFCC administration and manages accounting for restricted and unrestricted funding, including reconciliations, receivables, payables, intercompany transactions, cash flow, endowment accounting, and financial reporting.
• Motivates, guides, and supervises staff; delegates tasks; trains new staff; contributes to performance evaluations and discipline as needed.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable accounting regulations and practices; attends trainings and enhances organizational effectiveness.
• Manages financial information system user operations and reporting; partners with IT to test, upgrade, and implement system enhancements.
• Oversees fiscal year closeout in accordance with standards; prepares and presents reports for financial statements, audits, and budget forecasts.
• Supervises financial operations and implements improvements in accounting processes and procedures.
