Job summary

CLA is seeking a Nonprofit Controller for CAAS, to be based in Orlando, Tampa, or SW Florida. You will lead internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting for nonprofit clients, directing planning and investments while ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with boards and investors, manage staff performance, and provide strategic financial guidance to optimize operations and mitigate risk in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred but not required.
• 7 years of relevant nonprofit accounting experience; public accounting optional.
• Nonprofit back-office accounting experience preferred; QuickBooks experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Frequent local travel to client sites and occasional non-local travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies for budgeting, cash management, and accounting.
• Coordinate financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investments; prepare financial information.
• Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements and reports for regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for funds and investment of surpluses; make recommendations.
• Monitor KPIs and the performance of accounting staff; suggest actions.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and constituents; assist with board presentations.
