Job summary

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York seeks a Senior Accountant to ensure financial health and regulatory compliance. Reporting to the Controller, you will oversee daily accounting operations, treasury management, monthly financial reporting, and internal control maintenance.

This full-time, 35-hour-per-week hybrid role is based in Wading River, NY, with occasional travel to New York City and across Long Island. Work hours outside of schedule may be required.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years' progressive accounting experience.
• Proficiency in SAGE Inacct, MARTUS and advanced Excel Skills.

Responsibilities

• Generate monthly and quarterly financial packages, including Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, and budget-to-actual reports.
• Draft dashboards and variance explanations for finance leadership.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and credit card payables.
• Analyze financial performance and explain budget variances.
• Assist in preparing annual operating and program budgets.
• Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, fixed asset schedules, and deferred revenue calculations.
• Assist in preparing audit schedules, Form 990, and other regulatory filings.
• Ensure all financial and accounting operations strictly comply with non-profit GAAP.
• Maintain strong internal controls over financial transactions.
• Support annual external audits and prepare audit schedules.
