Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Senior Accountant – Corps to manage full-scope accounting for corps/centers within the division. The role reports to the General Fund Accounting Manager and requires strong reconciliations, financial reporting, and budget support.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in accounting, a Bachelor’s in accounting, and nonprofit experience. Proficiency with Acumatica and Excel is expected, with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, nonprofit preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Experience with web-based accounting systems and Excel.
• Experience in multi-entity nonprofit organizations is a plus.
• Nonprofit or faith-based experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts and resolve reconciling items.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow needs.
• Post journal entries for payroll, insurance, pension distributions and related items.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial reports and analytics.
• Support annual budget process and ensure Acumatica entries are accurate.
• Assist with internal audits and respond to vendor/department inquiries.
