Job summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is seeking an experienced accounting professional to maintain the general ledger, perform month-end close, and produce timely financial reporting for a nonprofit organization. This role requires strong GAAP knowledge, expert Excel skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include journal entries, bank reconciliations, grant accounting, and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and internal accounting controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with PivotTables and lookup functions.
• Experience with nonprofit financial reporting, grants or contracts, and Form 990 documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintains general ledger and records financial transactions per GAAP and internal controls.
• Prepares, reviews, and posts complex journal entries and month-end close.
• Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations and adjusts entries as needed.
• Performs bank reconciliations and reconciles payroll-related accounts.
• Prepares payroll journal entries and labor cost allocations.
• Produces monthly financial statements and management reports for the Controller.
