Senior Non-Destructive Evaluation Engineer
Onsite in Tukwila, Washington
Pay Estimate: $70 - $88/Hour
We are hiring a Senior Non-Destructive Evaluation Engineer to support Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ In-Service NDT team in Tukwila, Washington. This position develops and sustains NDE procedures, reference standards, engineering specifications, inspection technologies, and qualification processes supporting aircraft production, maintenance, and lifecycle sustainment.
The team supports a diverse portfolio of commercial and defense aircraft, including the 737, 747, 767, 777, 787, KC-46, and B-1B. The engineer will contribute across multiple programs and phases of the aircraft lifecycle, from product development and high-rate production through in-service support and post-production evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Develop Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) procedures supporting airline customer maintenance inspections.
- Design NDE reference standards to support aircraft inspection procedures.
- Develop engineering specifications, technical documentation, and other engineering deliverables to meet customer requirements.
- Evaluate emerging NDT/NDE technologies for potential aerospace applications and business needs.
- Support the development and qualification of new inspection tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.
- Perform routine testing and audits to qualify suppliers against applicable requirements.
- Support corrective and preventive actions related to materials, processes, tools, and inspection activities.
- Apply engineering analysis techniques to evaluate performance and identify causes of failures involving tools, materials, parts, and processes.
- Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
- Incorporate environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into materials and processes, research and qualification activities, work procedures, laboratories, and office environments.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- Experience developing engineering procedures, specifications, reports, or other technical documentation
- Experience applying analytical techniques to evaluate the performance or failure of tools, materials, parts, or processes
- Ability to work 100% onsite during first shift in Tukwila, Washington
- Ability to support possible overtime and domestic travel
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of aerospace engineering experience
- 5+ years of Non-Destructive Testing or Non-Destructive Evaluation experience
- Experience developing inspection procedures for commercial or military aircraft
- Experience with Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Radiographic Testing, or related NDI systems
- Experience using CATIA, SolidWorks, or comparable CAD software
- Knowledge of metallic and composite aerospace materials
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Experience managing multiple technical projects across different programs or geographical locations
- Experience developing, qualifying, or implementing NDE technologies and inspection processes
