Posting Closes: May 27, 2025

Minimum Salary: $51,122

Job Location: Division of Professional Registration, Central Investigations Unit, parts of St. Louis and southeast Missouri. Successful candidate will work from a home office. Travel will generally be within the assigned area with some occasional travel outside the region, including overnight. Day travel will average 50% and night travel 10% annually.

Why you’ll love this position:

The Central Investigations Unit promotes a positive and supportive work environment. You will enjoy working with professional colleagues in a fast-paced, positive office environment, utilizing your skills in licensing board investigations and inspections.

Candidates must have good communication skills, be self-motivated with minimal supervision, and be able to multi-task, make routine decisions, organize workflow, and establish priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct investigations of suspected violations or incidents related to administrative law.
  2. Conduct new and routine business inspections.
  3. Collect, assemble, and preserve facts, statements, and affidavits for legal actions.
  4. Prepare and review detailed reports of investigative findings.
  5. Serve subpoenas.
  6. Testify in criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings.
What we are looking for:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of civil, administrative, or criminal investigative experience, or experience as a law enforcement officer; and graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a specialization in criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology, business administration, social sciences, or a related field. Qualifying experience may substitute for education deficiencies.
  • One or more years of experience as a Non-Commissioned Investigator.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Note: Lack of post-secondary education will not be the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior law enforcement experience with an emphasis on investigations.
  • Ability to prepare clear, organized, and detailed investigative reports.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within the state with some overnight stays.
