Job summary

The Office of Special Investigations Unit within the Department of Health and Senior Services in Missouri seeks an experienced criminal investigator to conduct investigations related to abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of elderly and disabled citizens. This role may work independently or with law enforcement and recommend charges when probable cause exists.

Travel within a multi-county area may be required; hours are typically Monday–Friday with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Two or more years of investigative experience or law enforcement background.
• Missouri P.O.S.T. Certification preferred.

The Office of Special Investigations Unit, within the Department of Health and Senior Services, is seeking an experienced criminal investigator to join our dymantic team. The goal of this investigator is to conduct criminal investigations related to allegations of abuse, neglect, and finanical exploitation involving the elderly and disabled citizens in Missouri. In this position, one has the statutory authority to work these investigations independently or in conjuction with with law enforcement. As such, when there is probable cause that a crime was commited, this investigator will collaborate directly with the appropriate prosecutors office to recommend charges be filed. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

• Identify and interview victims, witnesses and suspects.
• Compile, analyze, evaluate, and preserve facts, statements, affidavits and other evidence.
• Provide testimony in court and/or administrative proceedings.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with law emforcement, prosecutors, Home and Community Based Service providers, other state agencies and community entities
• Travel within a multi-county coverage area to include Jackson, and ajacent counties as needed) in response to assigned cases, attend or to provide presentations/trainings.
• Hours of this position will be on Monday through Friday 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM however overtime hours may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Business Administration, social sciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related field; (Substitutions may apply)
• Two or more years of civil, administrative, or criminal investigative (non-clerical) experience (e.g., tax fraud, licensing, environmental, client care, public assistance, insurance, or military); or experience as a law enforcement officer with responsibility for conducting investigations.
• Missouri P.O.S.T. Certification preferred.
