Kake, a remote-first company with a global engineer community, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer skilled in Node.js and React. You will own end-to-end features, design APIs, and shape architecture for scalable systems serving millions of users. The role is an independent contractor position, fully remote, with collaboration across product and design.

You’ll work across stack, embrace CI/CD, and apply best practices while aligning with multiple time zones and high-performance requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in Node.js and React.
• Experience designing and versioning REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure).
• Strong data modelling and system-design instincts.
• Proficient in SQL and familiar with NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship production features end-to-end across Node.js backends and React frontends.
• Design and version REST or GraphQL APIs serving as contracts between frontend and backend.
• Make architecture decisions on data modelling and service boundaries.
• Query data across relational and NoSQL stores with appropriate databases.
• Write clean, tested code and implement observability for live systems.
