Job summary

Kake is a remote-first company building high-performance systems for a global audience. We are seeking Senior Software Engineers with deep Node.js and React experience to own features end-to-end and craft scalable APIs.

This is a remote contractor role aligned with a fast-paced, distributed team, collaborating closely with product and design. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in software engineering, strong architectural judgment, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on Node.js and React.
• Experience designing and versioning REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with modern git workflows, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Strong system-design instincts: data modelling, component architecture, event-driven thinking.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship production features end-to-end across Node.js backends and React frontends.
• Design and version REST or GraphQL APIs as contracts between frontend and backend.
• Make architecture decisions around data modelling and service boundaries.
• Query data across relational and NoSQL stores and choose the right database.
