Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for the Nitro Firmware Team. You will work on firmware integration, deployment tooling, and scale-tested updates across the EC2 fleet.

The role emphasizes low‑level embedded C/C++ development, testing, and collaboration with hardware and software partners to ensure reliability and performance at scale.

Qualifications

6+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
6+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Hands-on software development including design reviews, implementation, code reviews, platform enablement, and automated tests.
Collaborate with EC2, silicon designers, hardware engineers and partners to deploy firmware updates at scale.
Develop low-level embedded software in C/C++ and build robust firmware deployment tooling.
Mentor and lead engineering teams to improve design quality and reliability.
