Job summary

Viasat is seeking a senior network engineer for its Government organization to architect, secure, and maintain high-availability networks across physical and virtual environments. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, project leadership, and mentoring a team while coordinating with internal and external teams, potentially requiring travel.

Requirements include 5+ years in routing/switching, firewalls, DoD clearance or ability to obtain, DoD citizenship, and active network/security certifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' demonstrable experience with routing and switching protocols, firewall policies and virtual machines.
• Validated experience in the networking or systems field.
• Familiarity with STIG, POAM, IAVM, and other government security policies.
• Active CCNA, CCIE, CISSP or equivalent certification.
• Security+ (must obtain within 45 days).
• US Citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasible.

Responsibilities

• Corrective maintenance: troubleshoot complex routing, switching, firewall, VM, storage, and compute issues.
• Root cause analysis and preventative actions.
• Maintain hardware/software/network health and documentation.
• Manage Network projects from start to finish.
• Cyber and Information Assuredness collaboration with Cyber Security Ops Center.
