Job summary

County of Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Network Systems Administrator to manage complex LAN and server environments during an emergency period. The role focuses on configuring, upgrading, and securing networks, with a path from temporary hire to permanent appointment based on performance.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in CS/IS and several years of LAN design and administration experience, including VLAN, security, and backup planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS or related field with 3 years LAN design/administration
• Or 1 year at Network Systems Administrator II level
• Or 4 years progressive LAN design/administration experience

Responsibilities

• Performs complex network and server administration: configure, install, repair, maintain, upgrade hardware and OS.
• Designs and tests moderate to complex network software and physical infrastructure.
• Implements network security: end user roles, trust, access rights, directories.
• Configures VLANs to support IP services (audio, video, data).
• Analyzes network resource usage and fixes issues to keep apps accessible.
• Identifies changes to improve performance, reliability, and availability.
