Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer - Switch Design to lead the design and development of high-performance networking software for data center platforms. The role focuses on SONiC-based network operating systems and integration with leading networking ASICs.

You will design critical software modules, drive architecture, and mentor engineers across software, hardware, and QA teams, while collaborating with cross-functional groups to ensure scalability and reliability.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Computer Science or related STEM field.
8+ years of software development experience in networking or system software.
Strong programming skills in C/C++ and/or Go.

Responsibilities

Design and optimize software modules, drivers, and APIs for high-performance forwarding and control planes.
Define software architecture to integrate SONiC with hardware platform infrastructure for scalability and reliability.
Develop and maintain interfaces for telemetry, diagnostics, and system management.
Lead optimization of system performance, power efficiency, and resource utilization.
Provide technical leadership across software, hardware, and QA teams.
Collaborate with product, hardware, and platform teams; engage with SONiC community and contribute upstream.
