Job summary

DQE Communications in Pittsburgh seeks a Senior Network Software Engineer to design, build, and automate the next generation of carrier network infrastructure. You will craft internal apps, automation platforms, and tooling to boost reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

You'll collaborate with Network Engineering, Network Operations, Product Management, and Service Delivery to automate provisioning, observability, and troubleshooting, delivering production-grade software that directly

Qualifications

• Strong Python production-grade software development for APIs and automation.
• Experience building network automation solutions via scripting, APIs, and infra automation.
• Solid understanding of service provider networking concepts (BGP/OSPF/MPLS).
• Experience integrating software with network devices, management platforms, and operational systems via REST APIs and SNMP/gNMI/NetFlow.
• Experience with Git-based version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and Agile methods.
• Experience Linux environments and containerized tech (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Strong troubleshooting and cross-team communication skills.
• Ability to translate ops challenges into scalable software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop internal applications and automation for the carrier network.
• Build observability dashboards and telemetry pipelines for network visibility.
• Develop REST APIs and integrations with network devices and platforms.
• Create CI/CD pipelines for internal applications and run tests.
• Perform code reviews and enforce engineering standards.
• Develop reusable automation libraries and tooling.
• Support Juniper and Nokia routing platforms automation.
• Integrate BGP, MPLS, OSPF telemetry into tooling.
