Summary
ASET is seeking a Senior Network Services Engineer to support the design, implementation, monitoring, management, change management, software upgrades, problem/incident resolution, and root cause analysis for our IPv6 project initiative. The goal is to migrate from IPv4 to IPv6, moving all GSA user VLANs to IPv6-only in Field Offices and Regional Office Buildings. The project also involves deploying a Client VPN service that supports IPv6 encapsulation for remote clients.
Responsibilities
- Oversee switch provisioning, configuration, and implementation across multiple sites, including coordinating cutover logistics and change management.
- Establish network monitoring for new and replaced equipment.
- Support and operate Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) sites.
- Maintain network equipment and configurations, including routers and routing protocols.
- Manage LAN/WAN routing protocols, port management, and network capacity planning.
- Provision and configure switches and routers.
- Utilize network orchestration tools for automation and management of network devices.
- Monitor network performance, traffic statistics, and bandwidth utilization.
- Make technical decisions on data gathering and analysis methods.
- Provide technical guidance and support for projects, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Escalate issues to vendors and third-party entities as necessary.
- Generate and update network documentation.
- Establish effective working relationships with team members and clients.
- Create knowledge base articles and SOPs.
- Design and implement automation frameworks for application lifecycle management.
- Monitor application and network performance, troubleshoot issues, and support new technology integration.
- Participate in meetings with executives and review code for quality and security.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on feature development and improvements.
- Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends.
Required Qualifications
- Public Trust Clearance and ITILv4 Foundation Certification by start date.
- Experience supporting SD-WAN sites and designing network architectures.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, possibly supervising others.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency with protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and Static routes.
- Experience with NetScaler, Cisco Catalyst Center, VMware VeloCloud, and related technologies.
- Cisco CCNP or CCNA certification preferred.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including holidays.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Windows, ServiceNow, Solarwinds, Cisco Prime, and LAN/WAN control protocols.
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Slack, and ServiceNow.
Education and Experience
- 7-12 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree.
- Experience as a remote worker demonstrating strong time management and cultural adaptability.
Physical Requirements
