The Opportunity:

A Fortune 500 telecommunications company seeks a Senior Network Permitting Specialist for a long-term, temporary basis for at least twelve months, possibly longer in Chandler, AZ. The schedule is hybrid, with WFH on Monday and Friday, and in-office days Tuesday through Thursday. The hourly rate is $40 - $50, plus benefits.

Primary Duties:

The Senior Network Permitting Specialist will be responsible for securing permits, negotiating access agreements, and ensuring compliance with local government regulations. This role requires significant experience in network development, right-of-way access, and navigating governmental processes to ensure timely project delivery and budget adherence. Additional duties include:

• Overseeing permit submissions and acquisitions for network infrastructure installation.
• Representing the company at public hearings, local agency meetings, and with city councils.
• Collaborating with jurisdictional staff to interpret laws, codes, and ordinances, leveraging regulatory status to facilitate project deployment.
• Negotiating and securing right-of-way access agreements for public and private properties.
• Working with internal teams to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget, resolving issues as they arise.
• Maintaining accurate project records, including data entry into tracking systems.
• Serving as the primary contact for permitting tasks and deliverables with internal and external stakeholders.
• Attending deployment meetings to address conflicts or challenges related to permits and network entitlement.
• Managing resident complaints and escalating concerns to the Network Operations Center as needed.
• Leading the permitting functions for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, accurate reporting, and forecasting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• JD or legal background preferred but not required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in wireless services, site acquisition, governmental affairs, or planning/zoning roles. Comparable experience in related industries or military service will also be considered.
• Strong public speaking skills, especially with governmental and regulatory bodies.
• Experience in preparing permit applications, construction documents, and network infrastructure planning.
• Knowledge of Public Utility Codes, the Telecommunications Act, and local ordinances related to telecommunications deployment.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
• Experience deploying distributed telecommunications networks in public spaces is preferred.
• Up to 30% travel, including occasional day and overnight trips.
