Job Summary:

Wecom is seeking an experienced Permit / Joint use Specialist to support the deployment of fiber optic infrastructure. This role is responsible for securing and managing all permits, environmental approvals, right-of-way authorizations, and joint-use applications required for telecommunication construction across multiple jurisdictions and permitting agencies.

The Permit Specialist works directly with state and federal agencies, local governments, utility providers, and environmental consultants to ensure approvals are submitted accurately, tracked proactively, and cleared prior to construction. This is a critical role that protects project timelines and revenue activation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Submit and proactively track all permit applications, approvals, revisions, and closeout activities, including billing
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance of permit submission with all local, state and federal regulations including counties, transportation agencies, and all permitting authorities, including power, railroad and other governing agencies
  • Track and update progression of permits using internal systems, noting permit statuses, approval timelines, updates in permitting requirements, and potential road blocks
  • Maintain organized and audit ready records of applications, correspondence, approvals, rejections, and resolutions
  • Review permitting requirements via jurisdictional requirements for quality check of applications prior to submittal
  • Work with vendors to identify and correct quality and deficiencies to eliminate permitting delays and note areas for improvement
  • Serve as primary point of contact between permitting agencies and internal stakeholders for permitting status and corrections
  • Responsible for internal and external system updates throughout life cycle of the permit as required internally and by permitting agencies including but not limited to, billing, signed documents, addressing, and print design
  • Participate in project meetings, providing status to internal and external stakeholders
  • Work closely with construction, project managers and leadership providing updates, roadblocks and resolution of permit approvals
  • Must be detail oriented and comfortable with Microsoft office products such as outlook, excel, and word documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Able to pivot and remain flexible as needs of business change
