Job summary

Okta is seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer to own the full operational lifecycle, SLOs, and availability for distinct network services across our global enterprise. You will apply IaC, observability, and automation to design scalable, reliable networks and lead incidents with blameless post-mortems.

You will collaborate with Business Technology, Workplace, Security, and TDI teams to plan projects, improve network security, and mentor teammates while facilitating on-call readiness

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3+ years with a Master's degree (or equivalent).
• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code to automate deployment, scaling, and recovery, plus scripting or programming for custom tooling.
• Experience with observability tools, and a data-driven approach to defining and monitoring SLIs/SLOs.
• Direct experience with hardware/software vendors, Internet/WAN connectivity, and managing wireless networks.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full operational lifecycle, SLOs, and availability for distinct network services or platforms across global offices and cloud environments.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to plan projects, improve IT network security, and resolve recurring incidents.
• Develop and maintain system consistency by scheduling change requests, configuring network monitoring tools, and participating in an on-call rotation.
• Lead technical delivery, innovative architecture research, and blameless post-mortems following incidents to drive systemic learning.
• Coach and mentor team members by recognizing potential, recommending training, and diagnosing network problems from a systems perspective.
